Wholesome Comfort eBook Giveaway
(Plus a Discount Code and Recipe!)

Posted by DishragDiarist on May 15, 2012 in Recipes, Snacks/ Drinks with 9 Comments

This week I’ll be giving away a copy of Kate Tietje’s new eBook, Wholesome Comfort. It contains over 40 recipes, with many of them suitable for those with food allergies. All of the recipes are soy and seafood-free, and an easy-to-read key indicates which are dairy, egg, nut and grain-free.

Now, I know most of us think of comfort food as a winter thing. It can be hard to picture traditional comfort foods when the temperature is rising outside. But wouldn’t you love a cream soup recipe to replace all of those yucky canned versions? How about healthy dinner rolls or biscuits, or real-food mac ‘n’ cheese? Who wouldn’t love delicious Hot Chocolate that is not from an envelope? (I’ll share this recipe below!)

To enter the giveaway, all you need to do is check out the Table of Contents from Wholesome Comfort (scroll down here to do so). Let me know, in a comment below, which recipe you’d be most interested in trying. On Friday (5/18/2012), I’ll randomly choose a winner.

Can’t wait until Friday? Go ahead and buy now! Use discount code DISHRAG25 at checkout to receive 25% off the already low price of $9.95. (This code expires on 5/23/2012.) You can also purchase this book as part of a 5-book bundle. (If you purchase the book this week and then win the giveaway, your purchase price will be refunded.)

And here’s your recipe…

Hot Chocolate (from Wholesome Comfort)

*2 Tbsp. raw honey
*1 Tbsp. cocoa powder
*1 tsp. vanilla
*1 cup milk, preferably raw (I am currently sipping on this, made with coconut milk. Super yum. So if you’re dairy-free, Paleo, or just out of milk, no worries.)

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and gently warm (low-medium heat), stirring or whisking until smooth. If using raw honey and milk, you will want to stay below 115 degrees to preserve those raw properties. Enjoy!

Definitely one of the deserts. Maybe the gingerbread… or the fudge, or the icecream! I feel like main meals are pretty easy to keep healthy. It’s the baked goods and deserts that I struggle with more.

Ooh, it all sounds awesome, but I’m really interested in seeing the recipe for Broccoli Cheddar Soup. Maybe then, I can stop giving so much of my money to Panera. :D

mac and cheese is probably one of my all time favorite comfort foods from my childhood, and i’ve never found a home-made receipe that i like. the boxed brands have such a bite or tangy flavor to the cheese, so i’ll give this one a go! :)

I have to choose just one? Impossible! But I know for sure I’d want to make the cream soup, onion soup and Macaroni and Cheese.
